Ground floors

Thanks to its resistant, non-porous mineral nature, CAREA® Mineral Composite is ideal for building ground floors.

Ground floors, the risks

The first floors of buildings (housing, public and private tertiary sectors, shops, schools, etc.) are regularly subjected to various forms of aggression, which are a source of damage:

  • Vandalism
  • Graffiti
  • Playground
  • Traffic zone
  • Fouling

This deterioration reduces the value of the property, creates risks for occupants and increases maintenance and upkeep costs.

Tag, degradation

First floors therefore require a specific response:

  • Resistant
  • Perennial
  • Safe
  • Easy to maintain

Ground floors, regulations

Two general CSTB reference documents help builders and project managers to define the performance of the work in the written documents.

They define :

  • Performance evaluation methods for cladding, veneer and vêtage: CSTB CPT 3534.
  • Performance requirements according to building exposure (playground, traffic area, etc.): CSTB CPT 3546.
